How to Properly Cleanse Your Face

Makeup, stress, environmental factors and dirt all show up on your skin each and every day. Washing your face in the evening is one of the easiest ways to keep yourself feeling rejuvenated and refreshed. It’s also a great way to help prepare your skin for the overnight regeneration and renewal process.

 Did you know that there is a proper way to wash your face?

 Follow these easy steps at the end of your evening;

Remove all makeup before you start cleansing. Pores purge your toxins each evening and if don’t remove your makeup it clogs your pores and makes your face look grungy.

  1. Don’t use bars of soaps to cleanse your face. Bar soaps can alter the PH of your skin which can allow for more bacteria and infection
  2. Use lukewarm water. Using hot water to wash your face can actually damage it. You never want to have a flushed face once youre done cleansing it.
  3. Be gentle when you exfoliate your face. Scrubbing too hard on your face can damage your skin. Use your finger tips when you exfoliate by lightly rubbing or leaving on skin for 60-90 seconds. It will help to clear pores and remove dead skin cells.
  4. Remember to cleanse your neck and jaw. These areas also tend to get dirty. You will want to gently rub your fingers on the skin in a gentle upward motion to get circulation moving and to help your skin stay tight.
  5. Pat dry. Never rub your face dry, always use a dry, soft, clean towel.
  6. Always finish your routine with a toner. This toner will help to rebalance the skins PH to help protect it from bacteria.

Washing your face is just part of your routine. Everything from what moisturizer you use to your diet, water intake, stress levels and sleep all impact your skin.

Find a great cleanser that works for your skin. Stay consistent and always remove your makeup before bed.
