10 steps to aging in Reverse

10 steps to aging in Reverse

Hi Everyone, Tina here (+1 662 830 8246, info@nakedactives.com)

Here is our latest blog by Cynthia Chapman. She has given us her knowledge and research around aging in Reverse. I thoroughly enjoyed the read!

10 steps to aging in Reverse

We often hear from our older peers or from our friends even in their mid-20's discussing frantically about their fine lines, crow's feet, wrinkles. I too find myself internally panicking about how the inevitability of aging will alter my appearance, afterall we are only human and change often stokes fear especially when we know the changes are looming and we can't predict the outcome of them, but are we really as powerless as we think?

Descending from a dynasty of women who fiend aging made me very passionate about finding my own effective way at setting my mind at ease while simultaneously helping out my remaining family who have been lucky enough to reach the age where it's time to be extra proactive about taking care of our skin. Keep in mind that caring for your skin isn't something you just partake in once you climb up the age demographic but is something that requires preventative measures but luckily the methods of prevention are the same as how we maintain our youthfulness.

Here are the steps I and those dear to me take to not only maintain our youthful skin but also appear with an even more pristine complexion than previously. I am sure you have heard of the idiom 'Fountain of Youth' and let's just say these examples and subsequent results are not too far off.

1. Wash with a gentle cleanser:

Cleansing is important for removing dead skin, makeup, or any residue from the environment that may clog the pores. Dead skin is the main cause of Sebaceous Hyperplasia which are mini papules most often associated with aging. I personally use  https://www.nakedactives.com/products/hydrating-cleanser

2. Use a retinoid:

Retinoids are derived from vitamin A and are one of the most studied anti- aging ingredients with scientifically proven efficiency. How Retinoids work is by encouraging the skin to regenerate, ultimately replacing old skin cells with new ones while prompting the addition of  new blood vessels which improves the skin's appearance and texture by increasing blood flow

3. Use sunscreen:

Being exposed to UV rays are well known to accelerate aging and to combat that we apply sunscreen as it creates a barrier on your skin. Ultraviolet rays can still penetrate through the clouds so it's important to not neglect the application of sunscreen on your skin even on those gloomy days. Besides sunburns, exposure to the sun's ultraviolet radiation without protection overtime causes wrinkling, hyperpigmentation and a loss of elasticity so why not nip those pesky wrinkles in the butt beforehand by taking this simple step, we aren't as powerless as we think.

4. Use Moisturizer

How moisturizers work is by locking water on the skin which in turn makes your skin appear to be plump therefore filling up  creases. To increase the anti-aging potential when you're purchasing your next moisturizer try to find one that has hyaluronic acid.

5. Use skincare products with vitamin C

Vitamin C in topical forms can help fade dark spots, aid in tissue repair and is essential to the production of collagen that has an inane existence in the skin but as we age the production and quality of the collagen significantly declines resulting in fine lines and wrinkles. Vitamin C also helps by protecting the skin from free radicals. Free radicals are unstable molecules that can cause damage by breaking down cells that are integral to the production of collagen.

6. Exfoliate:

Exfoliation has numerous benefits including removing dead skin cells, improving blood circulation, and preparing your skin as well increasing the effectiveness of the rest of your anti-aging skin care regimen.

7. Avoid Smoking

The smoke that is elicited from tobacco causes damage to collagen and elastin (both naturally produced throughout the entire body). Nicotine is another chemical in cigarettes that causes your blood vessels to constrict resulting in reduced blood flow to your skin. The repeated pursing of the lips while smoking may lead to premature wrinkles around the mouth.

8. Peptides:

Peptides are proteins that stimulate new cell growth and facilitate the replacement of damaged cells as you sleep.  Peptides also stimulate the production of collagen which is responsible for maintaining the skin's structure and is responsible for keeping the skin supple.

9. Using skin care products that contain Resveratrol:

Resveratrol is an antioxidant that fights against free radicals ( unstable molecules that can harm your skin cells) to prevent premature damage to your collagen and elastin.

10. Use serums or creams that contain Vitamin E:

Vitamin E is another important antioxidant that works well in combination with products containing vitamin C by boosting their effectiveness as they share the same benefits such as protecting the skin by acting as a barrier and soothing inflammation.

You can find a number of these ingredients within my favourite line of anti-aging skin care products by Naked Actives (https://www.nakedactives.com/) and the rest of the prevention and treatment is simply by mare avoidance, all in all we aren't as powerless as we think.
